Shiam Wilcox Over the past few years my work has been based around environmental issues, mainly recycling. I use recycled materials as a medium for my work, often tending to use site specific materials which have been rejected as rubbish to then create sculptures for that location. I tend to work in a 3D form but can work in 2D and relief. My previous exhibition work has consisted of mainly large scale junk sculpture animals made using 100% recycled materials. I use these sculptures in school to educate about environmental issues and waste reduction. Recent work has been based on interior design, using waste materials such as crisp packets and plastic bottles. I like the idea of bringing rubbish back into the house as decoration. par I also make large scale carnival costumes featured in local and national carnivals and am currently working on large sealife inspired puppets using pop bottles for this years summer festival scene.
